Keep Supreme Court’s Conduct in Check

Our local representative in Congress, Rep. Adam Schiff, has recently joined several others in the introduction of the Judicial Ethics Enforcement Act of 2024, and I, as a citizen of the United States, am in support of this bill.
With American trust in the Supreme Court at a low, this bill will help hold the court accountable for its actions and restore faith in the judicial branch by introducing an office of the Inspector General. This Inspector General will hold investigations for alleged violations of the code of conduct, work against potential abuse, and suggest changes relating to the code of conduct that is adopted by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court is the highest court of this country and acts as a final resort for those seeking justice in their case. The justices hold great power in interpreting the U.S. Constitution and decisions made in this court cannot be overturned by another body.
The court is made to ensure equal justice under the law for U.S. citizens, and it is scary to think that our rights could be stripped away by those seeking to chase their own personal agendas. With the power that the Supreme Court justices have, it is important that there is no unlawful or unethical conduct being made that goes unchecked. Therefore, I support Schiff’s participation in the introduction of this bill.
