Glendale Boys Soccer’s Offense Explodes Against Crescenta Valley

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ soccer team posted a convincing 4-1 Pacific League victory at Crescenta Valley High on Jan. 30.
Senior Edgar Naghdalyan finished with one goal and one assist, senior Artur Gevorgyan, senior Arthur Melikyan and junior Tony Torosyan each scored one goal, and seniors Hani Ahmadie and Kevin Anjunyan each had one assist.
The Nitros narrowly lost to visiting Pasadena 2-1 in a crucial match that determined first place in league on Jan. 26. Naghdalyan chipped in the lone goal.
Second-place Glendale (12-2-2 overall, 11-2 in league) hosted Hoover High of Glendale for its regular season finale on Feb. 1; the league match ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. The Nitros will compete in Division III and are ranked No. 7 in the recent CIF polling.

CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons lost to visiting Glendale 4-1 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 30 as senior James Chavez scored once.
Crescenta Valley previously ended its league match at Burbank in a scoreless draw on Jan. 26.
Crescenta Valley (6-9-2, 6-6-1) visited Arcadia for its regular season finale on Feb. 1; the league match ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Falcons will find out more about their first-round Division I matchup when the CIF Southern Section playoff brackets are released Feb. 3 at 10 a.m.

HOOVER
The Tornados shut out visiting Burbank 1-0 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 30 after previously losing 3-1 at Burroughs High in Burbank on Jan. 26. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
