Glendale Falls Short in League Tilt Against Arcadia

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ water polo team lost at Arcadia 15-13 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 16.
Junior Leah Gaddes registered four goals, while junior Leora Freeman finished with three goals. Juniors Brina Brati and Inessa Khajehgian each chipped in two goals, while juniors Armine Zelveyan and Ani Ttuyan each scored one goal.
The Nitros picked up a 14-7 league victory over visiting Burbank on Jan. 11.
Junior Jasper Starr and Freeman each tallied three goals, junior Armine Zelveyan, Brati and Gaddes each recorded two goals, and Ttuyan and Khajehgian each had one goal.
Glendale (8-5 overall, 4-1 in league) will host Marlborough High of Los Angeles for a nonleague game on Jan. 22 before hosting Hoover High on Jan. 23. The Nitros will then compete in the Pacific League tournament at Arcadia High School starting Jan. 26.


CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons lost to visiting Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy of La Cañada Flintridge 16-5 in a nonleague game on Jan. 17.
Miranda Graham registered 10 saves, Ani Thomassian scored four goals and Michelle Khachatryan chipped in one goal.
Crescenta Valley secured a 10-3 Pacific League victory over visiting Burbank on Jan. 6, as Thomassian racked up five goals.
Graham tallied six saves, Avalon Burzynski recorded three goals, and Gianna Double and Khachatryan each contributed one goal.
Crescenta Valley competed in the Troy Winter Classic and finished with a 1-3 record after losing to San Marcos, 11-3, in its tournament finale on Jan. 13.
Graham finished with 14 saves, Khachatryan chipped in two goals and Thomassian scored one goal.
The Falcons lost to Westlake High of Westlake Village 14-7 in a tournament game on Jan. 13.
Graham registered nine saves, Burzynski, Double and Thomassian each tallied two goals, and Savannah Llanes had one goal.
Crescenta valley lost to Santiago High of Corona 11-5 in a tournament game on Jan. 12.
Graham contributed 11 saves, Thomassian scored three goals, and Cara Donohoe and Double each recorded one goal.
The Falcons defeated La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena 8-5 in their tournament opener on Jan. 12.
Graham produced eight saves, Cléa Tong Tournois and Thomassian each finished with two goals, and Llanes, Donohoe, Double and Burzynski each scored one goal.
Crescenta Valley picked up a 9-7 league victory at Burroughs High of Burbank on Jan. 11.
Graham racked up 14 saves, Donohoe, Double and Burzynski each chipped in two goals, and Alex Lawrence, Thomassian and Khachatryan each had one goal.
The Falcons (9-6, 3-2) will visit Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 23 at 3:45 p.m. The Falcons will then compete in the Pacific League tournament at Arcadia High School starting Jan. 26.


HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Muir High of Pasadena 14-3 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 11. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover (1-5, 0-4) will visit Glendale for a league game on Jan. 23 at 3:45 p.m. The Tornados will then compete in the Pacific League tournament at Arcadia High School starting Jan. 26.
