Falcons Settle for League Draw Against Arcadia

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team shut out visiting Muir High of Pasadena 3-0 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 16.
Senior Mackenzie Elster, senior Adamari Polanco and junior Emily Martinez each scored one goal, while junior Ina Genova and freshman Arianna Dominguez were each credited with an assist.
The Falcons tied with host Arcadia 2-2 in a league game on Jan. 12. Sophomore Kira Lee and Martinez each recorded one goal, while Dominguez finished with one assist.
Crescenta Valley (11-5-2 overall, 8-0-1 in league) will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league game on Jan. 23 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Burbank on Jan. 26.


HOOVER
The Tornados defeated host Glendale 5-1 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 12.
Senior Fiona Gilbert chipped in a pair of goals, while senior captain Lillian Yousefian, junior Katherine Coppersmith and junior Amanda Laguna each scored one goal.
Hoover was shut out by visiting Pasadena 2-0 in a league game on Jan. 16.
The Tornados (4-13-1, 1-7-1) will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 23 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Burroughs High of Burbank on Jan. 26.


GLENDALE
The Nitros lost to visiting Hoover High 5-1 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 12. Senior Kathleen Argueta scored one goal, while senior Amelia Knur made six saves.
Glendale was shut out by visiting Burbank 6-0 in a league game on Jan. 16. Knur registered 10 saves, junior Lily Trinh and freshman Elena Shakhbadaryan each finished with two shots on goal, and senior Nelin Gharpetian had one shot on goal.
The Nitros (0-14, 0-9) will host Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 23 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Pasadena High on Jan. 26.
