Brati Paces Nitros Past Falcons in League Battle

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ water polo team defeated Burroughs High of Burbank 10-8 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.
Junior Leora Freeman scored three goals, juniors Armine Zelveyan and Ani Ttuyan each chipped in two goals, and juniors Leah Gaddes, Brina Brati and Inessa Khajehgian each tallied one goal.
The Nitros edged visiting Crescenta Valley High 7-6 in a league game on Jan. 4.
Brati finished with three goals, Freeman recorded two goals, and junior Lori Libarian and Zelveyan each scored one goal.
Glendale (7-4 overall, 3-0 in league) will visit Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 16 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Jan. 18.


CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons defeated visiting Pasadena 13-3 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.
Noel Pawlowski racked up eight saves, while Miranda Graham tallied six saves. Michelle Khachatryan scored four goals, while Gianna Double recorded three goals. Alex Lawrence chipped in two goals, while Avalon Burzynski, Cara Donohoe and Ani Thomassian each scored one goal.
Crescenta Valley narrowly lost at Glendale 7-6 in a league matchup on Jan. 4, as Miranda Graham finished with 13. Thomassian contributed three goals, Donohoe scored two goals and Burzynski had one goal.
The Falcons (5-3, 1-2) will finish competing in the Warrior Winter Classic on Jan. 13 before resuming league play with a home matchup against Burbank on Jan. 16 at 3:45 p.m.


HOOVER
The Tornados recently suffered a pair of Pacific League losses against Arcadia, 21-2, and Burroughs High of Burbank, 14-7. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover (1-4, 0-3) will visit Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 16 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High on Jan. 18.
