Public Works Shares Christmas Tree Recycling Guide

The city’s Public Works Department wants residents to properly dispose of Christmas trees after all the holiday fun.
As of this week, residents of single-family and multi-family (2-4 units) dwellings can recycle a Christmas tree in Glendale by following these steps:

  • Remove all ornaments, decorations, bags, stands, bars, nails and most tinsel (flocked trees and trees coated with fire retardant are acceptable).
  • If the tree is taller than 8 feet, it must be cut in half.
  • Place the tree at the curb or in the alley for pick-up on your refuse collection day. Trees will be picked up within two weeks.
The Glendale Fire Department recommends residents dispose of trees as soon as possible following the holidays to avoid dried out trees becoming a fire hazard in homes.
For more information, call Public Works at (818) 548-3916.
