Falcons, Nitros Break Even at Holiday Tournaments

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated Gabrielino High of San Gabriel 50-33 in its La Cañada New Year’s Ball Tournament finale on Dec. 29. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Falcons lost to Flintridge Preparatory of La Cañada Flintridge 63-46 in a tournament game on Dec. 28.
Senior Kylie Ray poured in 12 points, while junior Keira Calaguas scored 10 points. Junior Darby Stayton finished with seven points, while sophomores Mila Hairapetian and Amelia Parmentier recorded five points. Freshman Yashvi Ahir tallied three points, freshman Anik Nortikyan contributed two points, and freshmen Kelin Shajanian and Ava Gharib each had one point.
Crescenta Valley (10-6 overall, 5-0 in league) will host Pasadena for a Pacific League game on Jan. 9 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Arcadia on Jan. 12.


GLENDALE

Glendale High School junior Patel Krikorian and the Nitros will host Burroughs High for a Pacific League game on Jan. 9

The Nitros defeated Arleta 58-54 in their Burroughs Tournament finale on Dec. 30. Glendale also secured a 59-33 victory over Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies on Dec. 29 but suffered a 52-32 loss against Trinity Classical Academy of Valencia on Dec. 28. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros (12-5, 4-1) will host Burroughs High of Burbank for a Pacific League game on Jan. 9 at 6:45 p.m. before visiting Hoover High on Jan. 12.


HOOVER
The Tornados resumed Pacific League play by visiting Burbank on Jan. 4; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
Hoover (1-9, 0-5) will host Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 9 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Glendale on Jan. 12.
