Falcons, Nitros, Tornados Off to Unbeaten Starts

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated host La Cañada 57-32 in its season opener on Nov. 15, as senior Kylie Ray finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, four steals and one block.
Junior Keira Calaguas tallied 12 points, five rebounds, three steals and one assist, while freshman Kelen Shajania chipped in six points, five rebounds, two assists and one block. Junior Darby Stayton registered 13 rebounds, four points, four blocks and one steal, freshman Lylah Dunlavey recorded five rebounds, two points, two blocks, one steal and one assist, and freshman Yashvi Ahir tallied four rebounds, two points, two steals and two assists. Sophomore Amelia Parmentier contributed two points, two rebounds and one block, junior Tsoler Nalbandian produced two points and two rebounds, and junior Estella Aydin scored two points.
Freshman Anik Nortikyan collected four rebounds, freshman Ava Gharib had one rebound and one block, and freshman Teny Hovsepian was credited with one assist.
The Falcons (1-0 overall) will visit Los Angeles CES for a nonleague game on Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. before visiting Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Nov. 29.


GLENDALE

Glendale High School junior Christina Koshkerian contributed 12 points and six steals to help the Nitros beat Monrovia in a nonleague game on Nov. 18.

Junior Christina Koshkerian racked up 12 points, six steals, four rebounds and four assists, while senior Pateel Krikorian tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist. Senior Kalin Zadoori registered eight points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal, while senior Natalia Andriassian finished with eight points, six rebounds and one assist. Junior Aleek Khanamerian recorded six points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist, while senior Michelle Mirzakhanian chipped in six points and two rebounds. Senior Sella Koshkerian contributed five points, five assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block, while senior Carmen Avedian produced five assists, three points, three steals and one rebound.
Glendale secured a 77-37 nonleague victory over visiting Quartz Hill on Nov. 16.
Sella Koshkerian racked up 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal, Christina Koshkerian contributed 20 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Avedian produced 14 points, seven assists, one steal and one rebound. Andriassian finished with eight rebounds, seven points, two steals and one assist, while Krikorian recorded six points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Mirzakhanian tallied four points, two rebounds and two assists, Zadoori registered two points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal, and Khanamerian collected three steals and three rebounds.
The Nitros secured a 43-41 season-opening victory in overtime against visiting Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy of La Cañada on Nov. 13.
Sella Koshkerian contributed 14 points, eight rebounds, five steals, four assists and one block, while Andriassian finished with 11 points, five rebounds and one assist. Christina Koshkerian tallied seven rebounds, six points, four steals and one assist, while Zadoori recorded six points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Krikorian produced five points and two rebounds, while Avedian had five rebounds, three steals and one point.
Glendale (3-0) will open Pacific League action at Burroughs High in Burbank on Dec. 5 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Burbank on Dec. 8.


HOOVER

The Tornados dominated visiting Blair High of Pasadena 57-19 in their season opener on Nov. 15, as sophomore Michelle Cline scored 16 points.
Freshman Aya Ter-Martirosyan registered nine points, while sophomore Marjorie McClain produced eight points. Junior Iren Musayekyan, sophomore Yeva Awades and freshman Aleena Kalanijan each scored six points, while sophomore Elva Aghajanyan, sophomore Meylin Perez and freshman Houry Badrosian each had two points.
Hoover (1-0) will open Pacific League action at Arcadia on Dec. 5 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Dec. 7.
