Hoover Takes Down Crosstown Rival Glendale

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ water polo team lost to visiting Hoover High 12-7 in a Pacific League game on Oct. 17.
David Zakaryan produced three saves, Andrew Klujian and August Kalaba each scored two goals, and Arno Ghazaryan, Artin Ghazaryan and Vardges Hakobyan each added one goal.
The Nitros lost to visiting Arcadia 14-9 in a league showdown on Oct. 12, as Robert Lazaryan and Klujian each tallied three goals.
Zakaryan recorded eight saves, while Kalaba finished with two assists and one goal. Arno Ghazaryan and Hakobyan each chipped in one goal, while Artin Ghazaryan had one assist.
Glendale (14-16 overall, 3-4 in league) will compete in the Pacific League Tournament on Oct. 24 and 26. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.


CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons lost to visiting Arcadia 10-8 in a Pacific League game on Oct. 18.
Mark Abdou recorded four saves, while Sebastian Rivera tallied three goals. Daron Alexanians chipped in two goals, while Aaron Choi, Levon Babayan and Edgar Galstyan each finished with one goal.
Crescenta Valley suffered a 10-7 league loss against visiting Burbank on Oct. 12.
Alex Movsesyan and Alexanians each scored two goals, while Devin Janparian, Rivera and Galstyan added one goal.
The Falcons (12-15, 3-4) will take part in the Pacific League Tournament ahead of the release of the CIF Southern Section playoff brackets on Oct. 28.


HOOVER

The Tornados posted a pair of Pacific League wins on the road at Glendale 12-7 and at Pasadena 25-3. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover (11-8, 3-4) will participate in the Pacific League Tournament on Tuesday and Thursday before learning about its CIF Southern Section playoff journey on Saturday.
