Soireé Celebrates Glendale Historical Society’s Success

The Glendale Historical Society hosted their annual gala, “A Swanky Soireé at the Barker House” on Oct. 7.
More than 100 guests gathered at the mid-century house overlooking Los Angeles to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction to celebrate the mission, success and achievements of the society.
Chris Nichols, senior editor of Los Angeles Magazine, emceed the event that honored the outstanding achievements in historic preservation to the Museum of Neon Art, accepted by Arlene Vidor. Peter Rusch received the Marie Luft Award for Excellence in Stewardship of the Doctors House, and Lorna Vartanian was honored for outstanding achievement in historic preservation.
Prominent locals of the Glendale community were also in attendance, including Glendale Mayor Dan Brotman, Assemblywoman Laura Friedman and state Sen. Anthony Portantino.
