Falcons Roll Past Short-Handed Burbank

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ tennis team defeated host Burbank 15-3 in a Pacific League matchup on Oct. 17.
The No. 1 doubles team of Gabriella Rouveyrol and Nicolette Aghabegian swept with scores of 6-4, 6-0 and 6-0. The No. 2 duo of Liudmila Abadzheva and Elena Manuelian won two sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-1, while the No. 3 pairing of Rama Kumarasuriar and Hailee Yoon contributed with a 6-0 victory. Additionally, the No. 2 and No. 3 teams were awarded victories via forfeit.
In singles play, No. 2 Natalie Mirbegian won two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. No. 1 Anais Khachatryan won a set, 6-2, while No. 3 Claudia Chmielewski added a 6-1 victory. All three singles players were also granted a third-round victory via forfeit.
The Falcons routed visiting Burroughs High of Burbank 17-1 in a league contest on Oct. 12.
No. 3 Chmielewski earned a clean sweep with three consecutive 6-0 wins. No. 2 Mirbegian also posted a sweep, winning with scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-3. No. 1 Khachatryan contributed a 6-1 victory before alternating with Anna Poghosyan, who added a 6-1 win of her own.
In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Abadzheva and Manuelian swept their matches with scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-0. The No. 2 duo of Allison Bashar and Rouveyrol swept with scores of 6-0, 6-4 and 6-1. The No. 3 pairing of Rama Kumarasuriar and Yoon won two sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-3. Kumarasuriar alternated with Linnea Russell in the third round, and together with Yoon, they added a 6-1 victory to complete the sweep.
Crescenta Valley is expected to send individuals to compete in the Pacific League Tournament at Burroughs High in Burbank on Oct. 23 and Oct. 25 before the CIF Southern Section team playoff brackets are released on Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.

The Tornados defeated visiting Pasadena 13-5 in a Pacific League matchup on Oct. 17.
No. 3 Malvina Karapetyan earned a sweep with three consecutive 6-0 scores, while No. 2 Alexandra Nemirovskaya also swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2. No. 1 Jackyln Tolomyan won two sets with identical 6-0 scores.
The No. 1 duo of Kirsten Canon and Katherine Nalchajyan swept their opponents with scores of 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0. The No. 2 tandem of Ani Weimar and Savannah Sanchez posted a pair of 6-1 victories.
Hoover dominated host Muir High in Pasadena 15-3 in a league match on Oct. 12.
No. 2 Nemirovskaya swept her sets with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2. No. 1 Tolomyan won a pair of sets with identical 6-1 scores, while No. 3 Nalchajyan also won two sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
The No. 2 duo of Evenna Amirian and Canon swept their sets with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, while the No. 3 team of Elise Jahng and Mary Ghazarian also swept with scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1. The No. 1 tandem of Karapetyan and Sanchez contributed two wins with identical 6-0 scores.
The Tornados are expected to send individuals to compete in the Pacific League Tournament before learning about their playoff run on Oct. 30.


GLENDALE
The Nitros suffered a 17-1 Pacific League loss to visiting Arcadia on Oct. 17, as the No. 2 doubles team of Natalie Mirzakhanyan and Lori Torosyan posted a 6-3 victory.
Glendale lost to visiting Burbank 14-4 in a league matchup on Oct. 12.
The No. 3 doubles team of Pauline Tekelian and Kristy Tarbinian won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 7-6 (8-6). Additionally, the No. 1 tandem of Lilit Arakelyan and Gohar Harutyunyan, and the No. 2 duo of Marie Kaloghlian and Garine Melkonian each won a set each with a 6-0 score.
The Nitros are expected to send individuals to compete in the Pacific League Tournament ahead of the CIF playoff announcement.
