Davis, Lymon Propel Tornados Past Nogales

The Hoover High School varsity football team edged visiting Nogales High of La Puente, 43-42, in a nonleague game on Sept. 29.
Senior quarterback Ethan Davis completed 10 passes for 258 yards with three touchdowns, while junior Javon Lymon finished with 149 yards receiving on three catches, each resulting in a touchdown.
Junior Ryan O rushed for 91 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns, while sophomore Aj Francisco scored a touchdown on a 2-yard carry. Junior Davion Holloway made two receptions for 68 yards and scored a two-point conversion, while senior Daniel Baneham went 5-for-5 in PAT attempts.
Senior Anderson Thombs had two catches for 22 yards, while senior Aram Darbinyan made two receptions for 19 yards.
The Tornados (2-5 overall) visited Temple City on Oct. 6; the nonleague game ended after the Glendale News-Press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Hoover will visit Viewpoint High in Calabasas for a nonleague game on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. before closing the regular season against rival Glendale in the Battle for the Bell game on Oct. 26.
