GHS Conquers Los Altos in Nonleague Match

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ water polo team recently lost a nonleague game at Pasadena Polytechnic 17-4.
Andrew Klujian recorded two blocks and one goal, Artin Ghazaryan finished with one goal and one block, and Arno Ghazaryan and Robert Lazaryan each scored once. August Kalaba tallied one steal and one save, while Vardges Hakobyan had one steal.
The Nitros previously picked up a 12-4 nonleague victory at Los Altos High in Hacienda Heights as Artin Ghazaryan racked up four goals.
Klujian recorded two goals and two steals, Lazaryan contributed two goals and one steal, and Hakobyan scored twice. Kalaba tallied one goal and one steal, while Arno Ghazaryan scored once. David Zakaryan finished with two saves and one steal, while Aidan Fieda had one steal.
Glendale (2-4 overall) will host South Pasadena for a nonleague game on Sept. 11 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Sept. 12.


HOOVER

The Tornados recently competed in the Corona Tournament and finished with a 3-1 record after beating Calabasas 19-8 in the tournament finale.
Junior Rafael Davtyan racked up six goals, while freshman Armen Tarakhchyan scored three goals. Senior Tigran Mkrtumyan tallied two goals, while senior Haik Aghadjanian, senior Rocco Boyadjian, sophomore Arthur Tarkhchyan, sophomore David Tarkhchyan and freshman Harutyun Khachatryan each contributed one goal.
Hoover defeated Centennial High of Corona 11-4 in a tournament game as Davtyan recorded four goals. Armen Tarakhchyan and Aghadjanian each scored twice, while junior Davit Harutyunyan, Khachatryan and Boyadjian each added one goal.
The Tornados ended the first day of tournament action on Aug. 31 with a narrow 9-8 loss against La Habra. Tarakhchyan finished with three goals, David Tarkhchyan and Boyadjian each produced two goals, and Arthur Tarkhchyan had one goal.
Hoover opened tournament action by beating El Modena High of Orange 11-8 as David Tarkhchyan scored a team-high three goals. Mkrtumyan, Harutyunyan and Boyadjian each contributed two goals while Arthur Tarkhchyan and Aghadjanian each registered one goal.
Hoover (3-2 overall) will host Alhambra for a nonleague matchup on Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. before hosting St. Francis High of La Cañada Flintridge on Sept. 22.
