What Happens to Arrested Speeder?

At approximately 11:20 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 28), Glendale police arrested a driver traveling east at a high rate of speed on the 600 block of Arden Avenue, but not until the suspect allegedly struck and totaled one parked car and severely damaged the late model Audi he was driving. Three other vehicles parked at the curb were also damaged in the crash.
Neighbors observed Glendale police officers handcuffing the driver and placing him in one of four police vehicles at the scene. Reportedly, there had been a brief police pursuit of the driver before the accident happened.
No serious injuries or fatalities occurred. However, the senseless actions of one driver nevertheless have affected several families, all of whom were inside their homes when the late-night crash occurred.
How will our justice system deal with this driver? What penalties will be imposed on him? Will he lose his license and be taken off the streets, at least for a period of time? Will this accident cause him to slow down and abide by traffic laws? At least my neighbors on Arden Avenue can hope.
