Falcons Win Season Finale Over Brentwood, 9-6

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team defeated visiting Brentwood School of Los Angeles, 9-6, in its regular-season finale last Thursday as junior Matthew Kubela racked up 27 saves.
Senior Jake Monougian registered three goals, one assist and two ground balls while senior Damien Valdez finished with three goals, one assist and one ground ball. Senior Ethan Sheklow produced one goal, three assists and two ground balls, senior captain Anthony Gharapetian recorded one goal, one assist and two ground balls, and sophomore Samuel Gore scored once.
Junior Quincy Lunt tallied two assists and two ground balls while senior Parker Trillo collected three ground balls and one assist. Junior Xander Trinh was credited with one assist while sophomore Ephram Wright had one shot on goal. Sophomore Josiah Noh had three ground balls while senior Jared Monougian, senior Kellar Black and junior Alex Lineses each had one ground ball.
The Gold Coast League runner-up Falcons (13-6 overall, 10-2 in league) carried a five-game win-streak into its recent CIF-Southern Section Division II opener against visiting West Ranch High of Valencia; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, CVHS would advance to the second round today and meet either Huntington Beach (13-6) or Santiago High of Corona (16-4).

GLENDALE

The Nitros lost at Heritage Christian High in Northridge, 13-8, in their regular-season finale last Thursday. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press by the Glendale coaching staff.
The Nitros finished the season seventh in the Gold Coast League with a 1-11 record (2-16 overall).
