CVHS Loses CIF Opener to Notre Dame

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ volleyball team lost to visiting Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks, 25-19, 23-25, 28-26, 26-24, in its CIF-Southern Section Division II first-round match last Thursday.
Senior Drew Puttler amassed 40 assists, eight digs, three kills, three aces and three blocks, junior Logan Freemon racked up 16 kills, six digs, three assists and one block, and senior Will Allen registered 15 kills, five digs, three blocks and two assists.
Senior Dylan Hsu tallied 15 digs, four aces and four assists, senior Jason Nelson produced eight kills, seven digs and one ace, and sophomore Colin Walley recorded eight kills and two blocks kills. Senior Will Chin finished with three kills, one assist and one dig, junior Ben Hart collected three kills and junior Matt Hong had one dig.
Puttler finished his CV tenure third all-time at the school with 1,469 assists. Hsu had the third most single-season digs in program history (226) while finishing his career with the 15th digs. Nelson tied Raymond Barsemian, who plays professionally in Europe, for eighth in career aces with 97. Freemon currently sits at 18th all-time with 436 career kills.
The Falcons concluded their historic season with their first Pacific League title since 2004 while finishing with a spotless 10-0 record (28-8 overall).
