Glendale Teams Compete in Pacific League Finals

Crescenta Valley, Glendale and Hoover high school swimmers recently competed in the Pacific League finals at Arcadia High School.
The Falcons varsity boys’ team won with 577 total points, the Nitros were fifth with 129 points and the Tornados claimed eighth with 70 points.
In the girls’ competition, CV’s varsity finished with 520 points to place second behind Arcadia, the Nitros claimed fourth with 153 points and the Tornados were fifth with 143 points.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

The girls’ 200-yard medley relay team of Hojung Yoon, Kimberly Yao, Chloe Addiego and Michelle Khachatryan won with a 1:53.68 time. Yoon won the girls’ 200 freestyle with a 1:50.46 time. Teammates Catherine Moore (2:10.43) and Emily Wong (2:13.23) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, while Miranda Graham was ninth with a 2:16.22 time. All four of CV’s freestyle swimmers improved their prelim marks by at least 1.5 seconds.
Dylan Wee won the boys’ 200 IM with a 1:59.38 time while Andrew Oh (2:04.94) and Andre Lewis (2:07.00) placed third and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, Justin Jeong finished seventh with a 2:09.40 mark. Addiego won the girls’ 50 free with a 23.78 time. Sarina Lin (seventh, 27.76) and Khachatryan (10th, 27.86) each finished within the top 10 while Camila Purizaca was 12th with a 28.74 mark.
Addiego won the girls’ 100 fly with a 55.32 time. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Tien (fifth, 1:06.82), Mia Zavaleta (seventh, 1:09.05) and Ani Thomassian (eighth, 1:09.62) each finished within the top 10. Yoon won the girls’ 500 free with a 4:57.08 time. Moore (third, 5:45.47), Graham (seventh, 6:12.97) and Ann Donohoe (ninth, 6:20.54) each placed within the top 10.
Ian Rho won the boys’ 500 free with a 4:57.97 time while Deven Shah (second, 5:06.54) and Towa Murdock (fourth, 5:12.75) each placed within the top five. Meanwhile, Marin Jeong was sixth with a 5:19.17 mark. The relay team of Alex Movsesyan, Aaron Choi, Shah and Alec Puttler won the boys’ 200 free with a 1:31.42 time.
Yao won the girls’ 100 breast with a 1:13.77 time while Alice Kim (1:17.63) and Gabija Pakuckas (1:20.63) were fourth and sixth, respectively. The relay team of Rho, Michael Petersen, Movsesyan and Wee won the 400 free with a 3:17.96 time.
The boys’ 200 medley team of Evan Yi, Petersen, Wee and Choi placed second with a 1:38.74 time. Rho finished as the boys’ 200 free runner-up with a 1:48.42 time. Murdock (1:54.82) and Puttler (1:55.11) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, while Marin Jeong was seventh with a 1:57.41 time.
Yao finished as the girls’ 200 IM runner-up with a 2:25.89 time while Alice Kim (with, 2:30.85), Pakuckas (sixth, 2:31.64) and Tien (seventh, 2:32.35) each placed within the top 10. The girls’ 200 free relay team of Addiego, Khachatryan, Purizaca and Yoon finished second with a 1:43.00 time.
Petersen (second, 22.33), Movsesyan (third, 22.57), Choi (fifth, 23.33) and Ted Kang (sixth, 23.81) each finished within the top 10 in the boys’ 50 free. Puttler (third, 54.58), Yi (fourth, 55.48), Shah (seventh, 57.21) and Justin Jeong (eighth, 58.85) each placed within the top 10 in the boys’ 100 fly.
Sophia Mim (fourth, 1:00.25), Wong (fifth, 1:00.69), Khachatryan (seventh, 1:01.75), Purizaca (eighth, 1:02.29) and Sallie Berentsen (eighth, 1:03.00) each finished the girls’ 100 free within the top 10. Movsesyan (fourth, 50.59), Choi (fifth, 50.59), Jayden Kang (eighth, 52.63) and Ted Kang (ninth, 53.16) each finished the boys’ 100 free within the top 10.
Lin (fifth, 1:08.18), Zavaleta (sixth, 1:09.41) and Sophia Lim (eighth, 1:10.66) each finished the girls’ 100 back within the top 10 while Donohoe was 12th with a 1:17.72 mark. Yi (fourth, 57.94), Jayden Kang (sixth, 59.16), Justin Kim (seventh, 1:01.43) and Chris Hwang (eighth, 1:02.44) each finished the boys’ 100 back within the top 10. The girls’ 400 free relay team of Wong, Yao, Lin and Lim finished fourth with a 4:02.30 time.

HOOVER

The Hoover High School varsity boys’ and girls’ swim teams include (listed alphabetically) Haik Aghadjanian, Andre Ambarchyan, Michael Arabian, Juliana Aviles, Ellysee Baker, Alex Bazinyan, Rocco Boyadjian, Candela Capdevila, Grickore Danelyan, Rafael Davtyan, Leah Gomez, Adriana Harutyunyan, Menua Iskandaryan, Tigran Mkrtumyan, Karly Rios, Jaelynn Romano, Kadie Rostamlou, Edward Sakallariou, Gore Sargsyan, Gunnar Sumner, Joshua Tania, Arthur and David Tarakhchyan, Amy Vasquez and Kathryn Yen.

The girls’ 200-yard medley relay team of Juliana Aviles, Karly Rios, Kathryn Yen and Amy Vasquez finished eighth with a 2:26.26 time. The boys’ 200 medley team of Alex Bazinyan, Grickore Danelyan, Gore Sargsyan and Tigran Mkrtumyan was seventh with a 2:04.32 time. Adriana Harutyunyan placed eighth in the girls’ 200 IM with a 2:32.56 time. Teammate Candela Roman Capdevila was 11th with a 3:12.28.
Arthur Tarakhchyan was 15th in the boys’ 200 IM with a 2:43.78 time, Leah Gomez finished 15th in the girls’ 50 free with a 29.60 mark and Danelyan placed 15th in the boys’ 50 free with a 25.53 time.
Harutyunyan was sixth in the girls’ 100 fly with a 1:07.25 mark while Yen (1:21.85) was 13th. Rocco Boyadjian was 14th with a 1:08.97 mark in the boys’ 100 fly while Gomez (1:05.42) and Yen (1:11.00) placed 10th and 15th, respectively, in the girls’ 100 free.
Capdevila (7:22.07) and Jaelynn Romano (7:46.22) were 14th and 15th, respectively, in the girls’ 500 free, Haik Aghadjanian was 13th with a 6:08.67 time in the boys’ 500 free and Kadie Rostamlou was 14th in the girls’ 100 with a 1:19.10 mark.
The girls’ 200 free relay team of Gunnar Sumner, Ellysee Baker, Gomez and Harutyunyan finished third with a 1:56.42 time while Boyadjian (1:13.82) and Andre Ambarchyan (1:16.06) placed 13th and 14th, respectively, in the boys’ 100 back.
The girls’ 400 free relay team of Sumner, Baker, Gomez and Harutyunyan finished fourth with a 4:20.52 time while the boys’ 400 free relay team of Aghadjanian, Michael Arabian, Bazinyan and Mkrtumyan finished sixth with a 4:03.32 time. Baker (1:26.54) and Rostamlou (1:35.51) finished 13th and 16th, respectively, in the girls’ 100 breast.

GLENDALE

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ and girls’ swim teams include (listed alphabetically) Christina Agulian, Lia Artoon, Karlen Avetisyan, Sophia Bertoni, Brina Brati, Greg Carrillo, Chloe Dobie, Aidan Fieda, Leora Freeman, Leah Gaddes, Tigran Gharibyan, Artin Ghazaryan, Arto Ghazaryan, Haik Hakobyan, Narek Hambardzumyan, Inessa Khajehgian, Andrew Klujian, Joseph Koo, Sydney Koo, Robert Lazaryan, Andrew Magarino, Dalila McAllister, Arin Mirzakhani, Daniel Petrossian, Jordan Rosner, Jasper Starr, Ayden Stevenson and Armine Zelveyan.

Briana Brati finished 14th in the girls’ 200 freestyle with a 2:32.05 time while Aidan Fieda placed 14th in the boys’ 200 free with a 2:04.67 time.
Gregory Carrillo Toyoshima placed fifth in the boys’ 200 IM with a 2:08.87 time while Inessa Khajehgian (2:46.27) and Dalila McAllister (3:17.95) finished ninth and 12th, respectively, in the girls’ 200 IM.
Toyoshima finished seventh in the boys’ 50 free with a 23.84 mark while Jordan Rosner was 16th with a 25.66 time, Jasper Starr was 14th with a 29.15 mark in the girls’ 50 free, and Christina Agulian (1:15.80) and Ani Ttuyan (1:28.31) finished 10th and 13th, respectively, in the girls’ 100 fly.
Agulian (1:07.14) and Leora Freeman (1:09.96) finished 11th and 14th, respectively, in the girls’ 100 free while Armine Zeleveyan was 16th with a 1:11.09 mark while Fieda (56.65) and Rosner (58.63) placed 14th and 16th, respectively, in the boys’ 100 free.
Brati was 13th with a 6:50.93 mark in the girls’ 500 free, Daniel Petrossian placed 16th in the boys’ 100 fly with a 1:15.62 time, and Petrossian was 16th in the boys’ 500 free with a 7:29.03 time.
The girls’ 200 free relay team of Freeman, Leah Gaddes, Khajehgian and Starr placed fourth with a 1:57.27 mark while the boys’ 200 free relay team of Arin Mirzakhani, Fieda, Joseph Koo and Toyoshima placed fourth with a 1:40.26 time.
Khajehgian finished fourth in the girls’ 100 back with a 1:07.34 time while Sydney Koo (1:18.58) was 13th. Joseph Koo was 10th in the boys’ 100 back with a 1:06.58 mark while Starr was 10th in the girls’ 100 breast with a 1:24.19 time.
The girls’ 400 free relay team of Sophia Bertoni, Sydney Koo, Freeman and Lia Artoon Levaskanni placed seventh with a 5:15.80 mark while the boys’ 400 free relay team of Rosner, Ayden Stevenson, Robert Lazaryan and Andrew Klujian finished seventh with a 4:04.04 time.
