CVHS Extends Winning Streak in League Play

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity baseball team extended its season-best winning streak to nine games by edging visiting Burbank, 2-1, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. The first-place Falcons improved to 9-0 in league (16-4 overall)
while winning 12 of their last 13 games.
Nico Terenzi pitched a complete game with six strikeouts, six hits, one earned run and no walks, Jake Deno registered a triple and a walk, and Ryan Ivanyi and Tyler Garland each tallied a double and a run. Dashiell Schultz produced a hit, an RBI and a stolen base, Jimmy Spears finished with a hit and an RBI, and Everett Pam walked once.
CVHS blanked visiting Canyon High of Canyon Country, 3-0, in a nonleague game last Thursday as Connor Campbell twirled a complete game shutout with four strikeouts while allowing five hits and one walk. Schultz went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Deno recorded a double, a run and a stolen base. Ivanyi tallied a hit, an RBI, a run and a stolen base, Garland finished with a hit, a run and a stolen base, and Spears registered a hit, an RBI and a stolen base. Meanwhile, Brandon Kwon walked once.
The Falcons previously picked up an 8-2 nonleague victory over visiting La Cañada as Terenzi allowed two unearned runs on five hits and no walks with a pair of strikeouts in a complete game performance. Schultz recorded a double, two runs, a walk and a stolen base, Pam tallied a double, two RBIs and a run, and Chris Torres produced a double, an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Kwon went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk, Jake Rendo registered a hit, an RBI, a run and a stolen base, and Spears finished with a hit, an RBI and a run. Deno had a hit and an RBI, Garland walked once and scored a run, and Tyler Oliver stole a base.
Crescenta Valley will host Los Osos High of Rancho Cucamonga for a nonleague game Saturday at 6 p.m. before hosting Burroughs High of Burbank for a league game on April 18.

Glendale High School senior Aaron Ruiz and the Nitros will host Pasadena in a Pacific League game on Tuesday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros won their second game in as many days after beating host Viewpoint High in Calabasas, 10-3, in a nonleague game on Wednesday.
Glendale snapped a five-game losing streak by beating host Muir High in Pasadena, 7-2, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. The Nitros previously lost a league game at Burroughs High in Burbank, 5-4. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Sixth-place Glendale (8-13 overall, 3-6 in league) will host Pasadena for a league game on Tuesday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting the Bulldogs on April 21.

Hoover High School junior Bryan Olmedo (No. 18) produced a hit and a stolen base during a Pacific League game against Pasadena on Tuesday.

The Tornados were shut out by visiting Pasadena, 13-0, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Senior Fernando Gallegos tallied a hit and a walk, junior Bryan Olmedo produced a hit and a stolen base, and sophomore Enzo Mitchell had a base hit. Junior Isaiah Alvarado and freshman Owen Marks each walked once while sophomore Gabriel Flores stole a base after reaching on a fielder’s choice.
Hoover recently lost a nonleague game against visiting St. Genevieve High of Panorama City, 15-4. Junior Julian Corral, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, struck out four over four innings on the mound. Freshman Isaiah Magana went 3-for-3, Gallegos went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Marks went 2-for-3 with a run. Olmedo recorded a hit, an RBI and a run while freshman Jordan Mahler had a base hit. Junior Josh Kiem walked twice while sophomore Jude Maldanado finished with a pair of strikeouts over one inning in relief.
The Tornados recently lost a nonleague game at Golden Valley High in Santa Clarita, 5-2. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Eighth-place Hoover (4-15 overall, 0-9 in league) will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league game on Tuesday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting the Mustangs on April 21.
