The Pacific League recently released its all-league awards for boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, and girls’ water polo following the completion of the 2022-23 winter season.
Glendale, Hoover and Crescenta Valley high school athletes were recognized for their seasonlong accomplishments, hard work and outstanding contributions to their teams.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Crescenta Valley senior Mikail Grigoryan, who averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and shot 37.2% from behind the arc, was named the league’s co-player of the year. Senior Armen Yetenekian received first-team honors while senior Alex Altounian earned an honorable mention. CV’s Shawn Zargarian was selected as the co-coach of the year after guiding the Falcons to a second-place finish in league with a 12-2 record (24-5 overall).
Glendale finished the campaign sixth in league with a 5-9 record (13-16 overall). Senior Dior Pierre earned a second-team selection while Nitros’ senior teammate Denzel Lora received an honorable mention.
Hoover finished the season last in league with an 0-14 record (5-20 overall). Junior captain Zack Van Patten received a second-team selection while senior James Akerman earned an honorable mention.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Crescenta Valley junior Kylie Ray was named co-player of the year while senior Victoria Prochazka and junior Lulu Arzoumanian each received first-team honors. Senior Melissa Dayag earned a second-team selection while senior Taleen Krikorian was an honorable mention. CV’s Michael Flot was selected as the co-coach of the year after guiding the Falcons to their second consecutive league title with a 13-1 record (24-6 overall).
Glendale finished the campaign fourth in league with an 8-6 record (19-9 overall) as junior Sella Koshkerian received first-team honors. Senior captain Jane Bassil earned a second-team selection while junior captain Carmen Avedian was an honorable mention.
Hoover finished the season last in league with an 0-14 record (0-20 overall) as junior Jayda Russ Wheeler received an honorable mention.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Crescenta Valley finished the season as runners-up in league with an 11-0-3 record (13-5-3 overall) as senior Giovana Aldaz, senior Stephanie Schaupp and sophomore Leah Farhadian each received first-team honors. Senior Sofia Lopez and freshman Kira Lee each earned second-team selections while senior Allison Park was an honorable mention.
Glendale ended the season fifth in league with a 6-7-1 record (8-10-1 overall) as junior Alyssa Araya received first-team honors. Senior Angela Krikorian earned a second-team selection while senior Kacy Puno was an honorable mention.
Hoover concluded the campaign sixth in league with a 3-9-2 record (8-10-4 overall). Junior captain Lillian Yousefian received a second-team selection while senior Tamar Chavdarian earned an honorable mention.

BOYS’ SOCCER
Crescenta Valley senior Matt Sheen was named the Pacific League’s player of the year while CV seniors Owen Denisiu, Lukas Elze, Jackson Greninger and Jake Sheen each received first-team selections. Senior Miros Abedian, senior Ryo Maeda and senior Kevin Vartanians each earned second-team honors while senior Miles Vallejo received an honorable mention. CV’s Kurtis Milan was selected as the coach of the year after guiding the Falcons to the league title with a 13-0-1 record (21-2-1 overall).
Glendale finished the campaign as league runners-up with a 9-2-3 record (14-3-3 overall) as senior captain Andrey Simonyan, senior Alek Kaprielian and junior Hani Ahmadie each received first-team selections. Juniors Edgar Naghdalyan and Emil Sarkisians earned second-team selections while senior Mateo Grasso was an honorable mention.
Hoover finished the season last in league with a 2-11-1 record (3-17-3 overall). Senior captain David Ekimyan received a second-team selection while senior Arneh Bedrousian earned an honorable mention.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Crescenta Valley finished the season third in league with a 6-3 record (10-18 overall) as junior Miranda Graham received first-team honors. Senior Sydney Lansang earned a second-team selection while sophomore Ani Thomassian was an honorable mention.
Glendale concluded the campaign fourth in league with a 3-6 record (11-18 overall). Sophomore Inessa Khajehgian received a first-team selection while sophomore Leah Gaddes earned an honorable mention.
Hoover ended the season fifth in league with a 5-4 record (9-7 overall). Leah
Gomez received a second-team selection while Juliana Aviles earned an honorable mention.
