The public got a first look at what the Hollywood-Burbank Airport’s replacement passenger terminal may look like when Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority commissioners were presented with three preliminary design concepts for the project this week.
The concepts were shared at a commission meeting on Monday by a representative from Corgan, the company providing architectural services for the project. The renderings for each concept included the terminal’s entrance plaza, baggage claim hall, gate lounges and post-security area.
Starting next week, the design concepts will be on display in the airport terminals; at the city halls of Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena; and at public libraries in Burbank. A QR code allowing the community to share feedback on the designs will also be available.
At a public hearing on April 17, the commission is expected to vote on the final design concept.
Voters in Burbank gave permission for construction of a replacement terminal in 2016 by passing Measure B. The planned terminal will be built on the northeast quadrant of the airport. Plans call for the 355,000-square-foot facility to have 14 gates, and airport officials say it will resolve long-standing safety and accessibility issues at the current terminal.
