The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ soccer team blanked visiting Arcadia, 3-0, in their Pacific League finale last Thursday. Senior Adam Lorek, senior Ryo Maeda and junior Grant Hovhannisyan each scored one goal.
League champion CVHS (13-0-1 in league, 19-1-1 overall) recently hosted Fontana (16-4-5 overall) in its CIF-Southern Section Division III playoff opener; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, the Falcons would advance to a second-round matchup against either La Mirada (10-3-3 overall) or Edison High of Huntington Beach (13-7 overall) today. A pair of victories would send Crescenta Valley to the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

GLENDALE
The Nitros edged host Hoover High, 2-1, in its Pacific League finale last Thursday.
Seniors Andrey Simonyan and Ryan Shahbazian each scored once while juniors Victor Santos Mejia and Edgar Naghdalyan.
Glendale (9-2-3 in league, 12-2-3 overall), which finished second in league, recently traveled to Westlake High in Westlake Village (12-8-5 overall) for its CIF-Southern Section playoff opener; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Glendale, 2-1, in their season finale last Thursday. Individual statistics were not reported by the Hoover coaching staff.
Hoover concluded the campaign eighth in the league standings with a 2-11-1 record (3-17-3 overall).
