Tornados, Nitros, Falcons Each Post League Wins

The Glendale High School boys’ soccer team reentered the win column after blanking host Arcadia, 3-0, in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday.
Junior Edgar Naghdalyan scored the game-winning goal, senior Ryan Shahbazian and junior Kevin Anjunyan each had one goal, and junior Hani Ahmadie was credited with a pair of assists.
Glendale was previously shut out by visiting Hoover, 1-0, in a league matchup.
The second-place Nitros (9-2-1 overall, 6-2-1 in league) will host eighth-place Muir High of Pasadena in a league rematch on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 3:30 p.m. Glendale routed Muir, 8-0, in its first matchup on Jan. 3.

HOOVER

  • Crescenta Valley High School senior Miros Abedian and the Falcons posted their eighth straight victory after beating Pasadena in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
  • Glendale High School junior Edgar Naghdalyan scored the game-winning goal to help the Nitros shut out Arcadia in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.

The Tornados were edged by visiting Burroughs High of Burbank, 2-1, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. The Tornados previously blanked host Glendale, 1-0, in a league game. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press by the Hoover coaching staff.
Seventh-place Hoover (3-11-2 overall, 2-6-1 in league) will host sixth-place Arcadia in a league rematch on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 3:30 p.m. The Tornados lost 2-1 in their previous matchup with Arcadia on Jan. 3.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons posted their eighth straight victory after edging host Pasadena, 2-1, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. The lone Pasadena goal was the first allowed by CV’s stellar defense since its previous matchup with Pasadena on Dec. 13, which also resulted in a 2-1 Falcons’ victory.
Crescenta Valley previously blanked host Arcadia in a league matchup, 4-0. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press by the CVHS coaching staff.
The first-place Falcons (15-1 overall, 9-0 in league) will host fourth-place Burroughs High of Burbank in a rematch on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 3:30 p.m. CV previously picked up a 1-0 victory over JBHS in their first matchup on Jan. 3.
