Nitros Win 4th Straight; Falcons, Tornados Lose Games

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ basketball team collected its fourth consecutive victory after downing visiting Pilibos High of Los Angeles, 46-30, in a nonleague game on Wednesday.
Junior Sella Koshkerian recorded 11 points, including a pair of threes, while senior captain Jane Bassil scored nine points. Junior captain Carmen Avedian and sophomore Natalia Andriassian each registered seven points while junior Michelle Mirzakhanian finished with five points. Sophomore Christina Koshkerian tallied four points, sophomore Pateel Krikorian sank a 3-pointer and junior Pateel Koshkerian had two points.
The Nitros resumed Pacific League action with a 39-32 victory over visiting Muir High of Pasadena on Tuesday. Bassil poured in 12 points while Sella Koshkerian recorded 10 points. Avedian and Christina Koshkerian each scored six points while Pateel Koshkerian produced five points.
Glendale finished competing in the Burbank Burroughs High Tournament last week and ended with a 54-36 victory over Yeshiva University of Los Angeles last Friday. Bassil posted a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist while Sella Koshkerian registered a double-double with 10 points, 16 boards, two assists, one block and one steal. Christina Koshkerian finished with eight points, four rebounds and two assists while Krikorian scored eight points. Pateel Koshkerian recorded six points, four boards, three assists and two steals while Mirzakhanian tallied six points, four rebounds and one steal. Avedian produced two points, five assists and two boards while Andriassian scored two points. Junior Kalin Zadoori collected four rebounds while sophomore Aleek Khanamerian had one board and one assist.
The Nitros previously defeated El Camino Real High of Woodland Hills in a tournament game, 43-40. Christina Koshkerian poured in nine points with four steals and two rebounds, Sella Koshkerian registered eight points, eight boards and three steals, and Avedian tallied seven points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists. Bassil racked up five points, 12 boards, two steals and two assists while Mirzakhanian finished with five points, four rebounds and one assist. Pateel Koshkerian recorded three points, eight boards, three steals and one assist, Andriassian produced three points and three rebounds, and Krikorian had three points and one board.
Glendale (13-4 overall, 3-2 in league) will host Burbank in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5 p.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School junior Lulu Arzoumanian poured in 17 points in a Pacific League game against Burroughs High this week.

The Falcons were edged by Burroughs High of Burbank, 46-44, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday, as junior Lulu Arzoumanian racked up 17 points.
Senior Taleen Krikorian registered eight points while senior Kristen Olavi and junior Kylie Ray each scored five points. Senior Melissa Dayag finished with four points while seniors Victoria Prochazka and Aleek Zakarian each had two points.
CVHS finished competing in the Glendora Tournament and ended with a 61-54 victory over Taft High of Woodland Hills last Friday, as Ray racked up 21 points. Prochazka registered 13 points while Krikorian poured in 12 points. Sophomore Darby Stayton and Arzoumanian each tallied four points, Olavi scored three points, and juniors Tara Arouchian and Natalie Shabazian each finished with two points.
The Falcons previously defeated Oak Park in a tournament game, 55-50, as Ray poured in 17 points. Krikorian scored nine points, Prochazka registered eight points, and Arzoumanian finished with six points. Dayag recorded five points, Olavi and Stayton tallied four points and Zakarian had two points.
Crescenta Valley (14-4 overall, 4-1 in league) will visit Muir High in Pasadena for a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5 p.m.

HOOVER

Hoover High School junior Jayda Russ-Wheeler and the Tornados will host Pasadena in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5 p.m.

Visiting Arcadia defeated the Tornados, 70-7, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. Sophomore Iren Musayelyan scored five points while freshman Meylin Perez added two points.
Hoover (0-10 overall, 0-5 in league) will host Pasadena in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5 p.m.
