Falcons, Tornados Represented at CIF Prelims

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity cross-country teams competed in the CIF Southern Section Division I prelims at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut last Saturday. Both the boys’ and the girls’ teams had excellent performances en route to qualifying for today’s CIF finals.
The boys’ team finished first with 50 total points, led by the 3-mile race runner-up, senior Parker Simmons, who had a 15:17.8 time. Seniors Luke Cheney (15:35.6) and Jamie Cartnal (15:47.6) placed seventh and 11th, respectively, while junior Eddie Sion (16:08.9) finished 14th. Seniors Reed Sinclair (16:22.3) and Harrison Connors (16:26.0) claimed 19th and 22nd, respectively, while junior Arlo Gagnon (16:43.4) rounded out the group in 27th.
The girls’ team finished as runner-up in its heat with 70 total points, led by sophomore Emilia Greenway (19:08.1) and senior Emma Haworth (19:26.0) in seventh and ninth, respectively. Senior Annabelle Tanner (19:32.0) and junior Ava Martin (19:38.2) were 11th and 12th, respectively, while sophomore Madeline Cho (20:37.5) placed 32nd. Junior Samantha Talbot (20:50.2) finished 34th, while junior Anthea Perez (21:28.9) rounded out the group in 45th.

HOOVER

Hoover High School sophomore Emma Canal represented the Tornados at the CIF Southern Section Division III prelims at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut last Saturday. She finished the 3-mile race fourth overall with a 19:33.4 time.
