The application process for Glendale Unified School District’s award-winning dual language immersion and magnet programs is now open.
There are seven dual language immersion programs — Armenian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish — beginning in kindergarten. Students learn their target language through content, not as a separate course of study. Benefits of the dual language immersion curriculum include bilingualism and biliteracy, academic achievement and cultural competency.
Meanwhile, Glendale Unified magnet schools offer theme-based curriculum, including coding and computer science, visual and performing arts, and global languages, in academically rich, culturally diverse environments.
Students are selected each year by a random lottery. Only eligible applications submitted during the application window will be included in the 2023-24 lottery. All late applicants will be placed on a waiting list. The application window for the 2023-24 school year is Nov. 1 through Jan. 31, 2023. The lottery drawing will be held virtually on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
