Four unidentified men were reported to have left the scene after attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the 2300 block of Montrose Avenue in Montrose and then brandishing a handgun when a nearby man confronted them about it at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18. The four men were described as Hispanic men wearing dark clothing and covering their faces with bandanas, and they were driving a white Dodge Charger V8 sedan with a black spoiler and black stripe on the hood.
Additionally, three other catalytic converter thefts involving Toyota Prius vehicles were reported in the same neighborhood at around the same time.

An unknown person was reported to have attempted to steal a Chevrolet Express van parked in the 2800 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta sometime between 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19. The owner of the vehicle found that an outer door lock had been removed and that the steering wheel column had been tampered with.
