Nitros Edge Falcons; Tornados Beat Muir

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ water polo team bounced back and posted a dominant 21-11 Pacific League victory over visiting Pasadena on Tuesday.
Alex Movsesyan and Derick Mailan each led with four goals, while Levon Babayan, Eugene Lee and Andrew Sarkissian each scored a pair of goals. Jacob Choe, Michael Petersen, Sebastian Rivera, Devin Janparian, Sam Yang, Ethan Toro and Daron Alexanians each added one goal, while goalie Logan Freemon registered four saves.
The Falcons previously lost their first league game of the season after being edged at Glendale, 7-6, as Freemon posted eight saves in the cage. Rivera scored half of the CV goals, Petersen added a pair of goals and Alexanians scored once.
CVHS (8-8 overall record, 2-1 in league) will host powerhouse Burbank in a league game on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros won a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday at Burroughs High in Burbank, 10-8. Junior Artin Ghazaryan led with four goals, while senior Andrew Azizian added a pair of goals. Senior Arthur Ter-Matevosyan, senior Arno Ghazaryan, junior Andrew Klujian and sophomore August Kalaba each scored once.
Glendale was swept in the seventh annual Fall Classic after falling to Righetti High of Santa Maria, 15-5, and Temple City, 15-10, on the final day of tournament play last Saturday. The Nitros were handed a pair of forfeits on the first day of tournament play.
Glendale previously edged visiting Crescenta Valley in a league game, 7-6. Senior Gregory Carrillo and Arno Ghazaryan each led with three goals, while sophomore Robert Lazaryan had one goal.
The Nitros (9-16 overall, 2-1 in league) will continue league action at Arcadia on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

Hoover High School’s Rocco Boyadjian tallied a pair of goals as the Tornados lost a league matchup at Burroughs High in Burbank.

The Tornados won a Pacific League game last Tuesday at Muir High in Pasadena, 15-11. No individual statistics were reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover previously lost a league matchup at Burroughs High in Burbank, 15-8. Alex Orujian and Rocco Boyadjian each tallied a pair of goals, while Haik Aghadjanian, David Tarakhchyan, Davo Harutnunyan and Menua Iskandaryan each scored one goal.
The Tornados (5-10 overall, 1-2 in league) will continue league play by hosting Pasadena on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 3:30 p.m.
