Falcons Beat Nitros; Tornados Edge Burbank

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ tennis team picked up a 16-2 Pacific League victory at Glendale on Tuesday.
CV’s No. 2 singles Natalie Mirbegian (6-2, 6-0, 6-0) and No. 3 Claudia Chmielewski (6-0, 6-0, 6-1) each swept. CV’s No. 1 Nicolette Aghabegian picked up a pair of victories, 6-3, 6-2, before being rotated for Ariah Armen, who finished the sweep with a 6-0 victory.
The CV No. 1 doubles team of Amanda An and Kristen Kim tallied a pair of victories, 6-0, 6-4. An was substituted for Lexi Sheynin, and the pair completed the sweep with a 6-0 third-set victory. The No. 2 tandem of Liudmila Abadzheva and Elena Manuelian (6-0, 6-1) and the No. 3 duo of Ramya Kumarasuriar and Hailee Yoon (6-1, 6-3) each collected a pair of victories.
Meanwhile for Glendale, the No. 2 team of Lilit Arakelyan and Tiffany Tarbinian registered the lone victories, 6-3, 6-2.
The Nitros previously had a league matchup at Pasadena postponed due to heat.
Crescenta Valley will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league contest on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 3:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Glendale will host Eagle Rock High of Los Angeles in a nonleague matchup on Monday, Oct. 10, at 3:30 p.m.

Hoover High School’s No. 2 singles Jacklyn Tolmoyan helps the Tornados edge Burbank in a Pacific League match by sweeping her Bulldog counterparts.

The Tornados edged host Burroughs High in Burbank on Tuesday after tying the Pacific League match, 9-9, but winning in total games, 91-82.
No. 2 singles Jacklyn Tolmoyan swept 6-3, 6-0, 6-1, while No. 3 Camille La Torre tallied one victory, 7-5. The No. 2 doubles team Malvina Karapetyan and Katherine Nalchajyan swept, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, while the No. 1 tandem of Julia Jagaspanyan and Ani Weimar (7-5) and the No. 3 duo of Savannah Studebaker Sanchez and Mary Ghazaryan (7-6) each posted a crucial win.
Hoover was previously edged by visiting Burbank in a league contest, 10-8. No. 1 singles Agape Keshishian swept 7-5, 6-0, 7-6, No. 2 Tolmoyan recorded a pair of wins, 6-4, 6-1, and No. 3 La Torre added one victory, 6-0. The No. 1 tandem of Jagaspanyan and Weimar (7-5) and the No. 3 team of Studebaker Sanchez and Ghazaryan (6-1) each tallied one victory
The Tornados will continue league action by visiting Pasadena on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 3:30 p.m.
