Falcons, Tornados, Nitros Battle in League Matches

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ tennis team defeated previously unbeaten Burbank, 13-5, in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday.
The No. 3 doubles team of Lexi Sheynin and Gabriella Rouveyrol (6-2, 6-2, 6-4) collected the only sweep for the Falcons, while the No. 1 tandem of Amanda An and Kristen Kim (6-1, 6-2) and the No. 2 duo of Liudmila Abadzheva and Elena Manuelian (6-3, 7-5) each posted a pair of set victories. Meanwhile, singles No. 1 Nicolette Aghabegian (7-6, 6-0), No. 2 Natalie Mirbegian (6-1, 6-0) and No. 3 Claudia Chmielewski (6-4, 6-2) each won a pair of sets.
The Falcons also notched a 17-1 league victory over visiting Burroughs High of Burbank last Tuesday. No. 1 and No. 3 singles player Aghabegian (6-0, 6-1, 6-0) and Chmielewski (6-0, 6-1, 6-1), respectively, each swept, while No. 2 Mirbegian picked up a pair of set victories, 6-2, 6-1, before being substituted for Ariah Armen, who won 6-2.
The No. 1 doubles team of An and Kim (6-4, 6-1, 6-1) and the No. 3 duo of Abadzheva and Manuelian (7-5, 7-6, 6-0) each swept, while the No. 2 tandem of Sheynin and Rouveyrol posted a pair of victories, 6-1, 6-0.
CVHS will continue league action by hosting Arcadia on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados had a nice bounce-back performance after an earlier loss by posting a dominant 16-2 victory over visiting Pasadena in a Pacific League match on Tuesday.
Singles No. 1 Agape Keshishian (6-1, 6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Jacklyn Tolmoyan (6-0, 6-2, 6-0) and No. 3 Camille La Torre (6-1, 6-2, 6-0) each swept their opponents, while the No. 1 doubles team of Julia Jagaspanyan and Ani Weimar also swept, 6-4, 6-0, 6-4.
The No. 2 tandem of Malvina Karapetyan and Kathryn Yen tallied one set victory, 6-1, before Yen was substituted for Elise Jahng in the third set, which Hoover won, 6-4. Meanwhile, the No. 3 duo of Savannah Studebaker Sanchez and Emineh Hacopian won a pair of sets, 6-4, 6-1.
The Tornados will continue league action by hosting Glendale on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros hosted Arcadia in a Pacific League match on Tuesday; however, a final result and individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale lost a league match at Burbank last Thursday, 12-6, but individual statistics were not reported to the News-Press.
The Nitros will continue league play at Hoover on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 3:30 p.m.
