Hoover Remains Undefeated After Beating Duarte

The Hoover High School varsity football team remained undefeated through its first four games for a second straight season after blanking visiting Duarte, 44-0, last Friday.
Junior Ethan Davis completed 7-of-9 passes for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns while also rushing for 40 yards and one touchdown on four carries.
Senior Cedric Lynum rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, while junior Isaac Perez rushed for 6 yards and a touchdown on a pair of carries with eight tackles on defense. Sophomore Javon Lymon scored a touchdown on a 70-yard reception while adding a pair of tackles and an interception on defense.
Senior Daniel Rangel made a pair of catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, while senior Frank Higginbotham lll made a pair of receptions for 23 yards with eight tackles on defense. Sophomore Joel Jauregui had two catches for 11 yards and a 31-yard interception, while junior Samvel Mamalashvili carried three times for 15 yards. Junior Daniel Baneham drilled a field goal while also going 5-for-5 in PAT attempts with a pair of tackles on defense.
Senior Vaghinak Sakanyan collected six tackles, while sophomore Jonathan Manukyan posted five tackles. Junior Aram Darbinyan, junior Anderson Thombs, sophomore Ryan Oh and freshman Grigor Arutyunyan each recorded two tackles, while senior Benjamin Manukyan and junior Joseph Dizon each finished with one tackle.
The Tornados (4-0 overall) hosted Temple City in a nonleague game on Friday, Sept. 16; the result was unavailable by the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Hoover will visit Marshall High in Los Angeles for a nonleague matchup on Friday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m.
