Tornados Beat Ganesha, 14-6

The Hoover High School varsity football team picked up its second straight victory to open the season by downing host Ganesha in Pomona, 14-6, last Friday.
After a scoreless start, the Tornados took control with 14 points in the second quarter to give them all points needed to win the nonleague game. Junior quarterback Ethan Davis completed 4-of-8 passes for 36 yards while adding 95 rushing yards on 10 carries with a pair of touchdowns on the ground.
The score remained 14-0 heading into the fourth quarter before Ganesha added a touchdown to make it 14-6.
Senior Cedric Lynum had 13 carries for 32 yards, junior Joseph Dizon made one catch for 17 yards and sophomore Joel Jauregui had a reception for 13 yards. Senior Daniel Rangel posted a nine-yard catch while junior Daniel Baneham went 2-for-2 in PAT attempts.
Hoover visited Gabrielino Friday night but the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline; the result will be included in next week’s issue. The Tornados (2-0 overall) will host Duarte in a nonleague game on Friday, Sept. 9, at 5 p.m.
