Falcons Capture CIF Swimming Championship

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ swimming and diving team captured the CIF-SS Division II title by posting 213 total points at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex in Mission Viejo last weekend.
The CVHS 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior Jungmin Yoon, junior Hojung Yoon, junior Chloe Addiego and sophomore Chelsea Hong won with a 1:35.27 time, while the same teammates placed second with a 1:46.21 time in the 200-yard medley relay.
Hojung Yoon won the 100-yard backstroke with a 55.90 time, and Addiego posted a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a 23.58 time. Addiego also claimed second with a 55.24 time in the 100-yard butterfly. Jungmin Yoon (5:07.43) took 11th in the 500 freestyle and Hong (53.89) finished 14th in the 100 free.
Meanwhile, the CVHS boys’ team finished 32nd with 15 total points. Senior Sean Rho claimed ninth place in the 200-yard individual medley with a 1:53.41 time while also finishing 11th in the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:42.65 time.

HOOVER HIGH

The Hoover boys’ swimming and diving team finished 21st in the CIF-SS Division III competition with 35 total points.
Senior Massimo Reyna won the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:40.48 time, earning the school’s first individual CIF title in 30 years. He also placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a 46.74 time.

GLENDALE HIGH

The Glendale girls’ swimming and diving finalists tied for 43rd in the CIF-SS Division III competitions with 11 total points.
