CVHS Loses to Canyon in First Round; Nitros Advance

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team was eliminated in the first round of the CIF-SS Division II playoffs after falling to visiting Canyon High of Anaheim, 6-3, on Thursday.
Junior captain Haylen Molina collected a pair of goals, junior Shari Park scored once and junior captain Brianne Ballard was credited with one assist.
Molina led the Falcons this season with 45 goals and 23 assists, while Brianne Ballard amassed 27 goals and 54 assists. Freshman Camden Ballard collected 35 goals and six assists, senior captain Bless Berelc registered 33 goals and 12 assists, and senior Ashlyn Burton produced 18 goals and seven assists. Junior Shari Park recorded 16 goals and 13 assists, junior Sophia Kachkeran posted 16 goals and three assists, junior Stephanie Voskanian tallied 14 goals and eight assists, and senior Yvalisse Ganzon had 12 goals and four assists. Freshman Kaylani Parker finished with four goals, senior Kaisa Lindman Marshall and senior Nour Shammaa each notched three goals, and junior Jane Marriott, junior Paige Mercer, junior Kate Fox and sophomore Audrey Chung each had one goal.
CVHS concluded the season with a 15-6 overall record (4-0 in league).

GLENDALE

The Nitros survived the first round of the CIF-SS Division III postseason by edging San Marcos High of Santa Barbara, 10-9, on Thursday. No individual statistics were reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale (9-10-1 overall record) will visit Rosary Academy of Fullerton (15-5 overall) in a second-round matchup on Saturday, May 7, at 3:15 p.m. If the Nitros are victorious, they will advance to a quarterfinal round and meet Murrieta Valley High of Murrieta (12-7 overall) on Monday, May 10.
