GlendaleOUT Accepts Scholarship Applications

First published in the April 16 print issue of the Glendale News Press.

GlendaleOUT is accepting applications to award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from the Glendale Unified School District.
The grassroots organization is seeking applicants who are current seniors at GUSD schools — Clark Magnet High School, Crescenta Valley High School, Daily Continuation High School, Glendale High School, Hoover High School and the Verdugo Academy Independent Study program.
Applicants must have at least a 3.0 grade-point average, self-identify as a member or ally of the LGBTQ+ community and demonstrate a record of service in support of the community, such as by being involved in school gay-straight alliances or performing community service with related organizations.
Along with completed applications, students should also include an unofficial copy of their transcript, one letter of recommendation not from a family member, an essay up to 1,000 words describing how they meaningfully contribute and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and either a resume, list of extracurricular activities or a list detailing any other volunteer or service work in or out of school.
To access applications and read more about the requirements, visit glendaleOUT’s social media feeds, facebook.com/glendaleOUT or twitter.com/glendaleOUT.
