Event to Focus on L.A. River, Wildlife

First published in the March 26 print issue of the Glendale News Press.

The Glendale Parks and Open Space Foundation, in conjunction with the city’s community services and parks department, will host an “open house” at the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk next weekend.
The event, which will be near the riverwalk’s entrance at Paula Avenue and Garden Street, will feature docent-led tours of the Los Angeles River, which, in that area, has one of the channel’s few unpaved bottoms. It will also educate attendees about the wildlife the river attracts.
City officials and department employees will be on-hand to teach attendees about fostering a healthier and sustainable environment around them.
The family-oriented event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2. Because of limited parking, attendees are encouraged to consider biking or walking.
