The Campbell Center Goes Back to Virtual

First published in the Feb. 26, 2022, print issue of the Glendale News-Press.

The Campbell Center is hosting a virtual event on Saturday, March 5, via Zoom inspired by the 1985 film, “Back to the Future.”

Those interested in joining can tune in from the comfort of their homes for “Back to the Virtual Fundraiser,” a night of entertainment featuring performances from internationally renowned acapella singers, the Newfangled Four, singing songs across the decades, which are featured in the movie and world-class magician John Guastaferro.

There will also be an online auction with items such as gift certificates to local restaurants and museums and spa-, beauty- and cocktail-themed gift baskets. A 1950’s costume showcase featuring the associates served by the Campbell Center will also be part of the fun.

The proceeds from the event will support the organization’s mission of empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through supported employment, community integration and residential services.

“Supporting events like this helps us build more innovative programs, like our new internet safety class, that improve the lives of our associates. It’s also a great way to get to know us,” said TCC Executive Director Nancy Niebrugge. The event was originally planned to be in-person, but due to the rise in COVID cases last month, most of the associates have been receiving services remotely in 2022. This event will be the first time this year that some of them and TCC supporters will see each other.”

The event is sponsored by Western Drug, the Vincent and Toni Espinoza family, Muhannad Malki and Jack Darakjian.
