Mary Jane Avila Orozco

Mary Jane Avila Orozco of La Crescenta, California, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2024, on her 91st birthday.
Mary Jane was born in Porterville, California, to Candido and Mary Avila on February 23, 1933. She earned her A.A. degree from Porterville College, the first woman in her family to get a college degree.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, word puzzles, scrapbooking, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was actively involved in her community through PTA and serving in her parish working with the group that cleaned the church weekly and served many years as a eucharistic minister.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gilbert Orozco. Her children, Connie Udabe (Roger), Kelly Costinett (Dan), Michael Orozco and her six grandchildren, Rachel Udabe (Vishal Jain), Amanda Costinett, Dylan Costinett, Lauren Udabe, John Udabe, and Olivia Udabe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Candido and Mary Avila, and her brother, Candido Avila Jr.
There will be a viewing at Crippen Mortuary in La Crescenta on Thursday, March 14th, from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mary Jane will be laid to rest in Tulare, California. There will be a viewing at Miller Mortuary in Tulare on Friday, March 15th, from 4-7p.m. with a rosary. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Tipton, California. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be at Tulare Public Cemetery on Monday, March 18th, at 10 a.m.
Mary Jane enjoyed her garden and loved receiving flowers. The family asks that in lieu of donations you send flowers to someone to brighten their day in her honor.
