School District to Offer Free Summer Meals

The Glendale Unified School District is administering its annual free summer meal program to help ensure that children have access to nutritional meals when school is not in session. The program will provide free meals to GUSD students at 20 school campuses and two park sites.
Breakfast and lunch meals will be offered at no charge to students participating in GUSD Summer School and Summer Child Development & Child Care programs. Community mealtimes are available at the parks for participants 18 and under, or individuals with disabilities in the GUSD community who are not participating in the summer school or summer CDCC programs.
Meals will be served at Jefferson Elementary from June 7 to June 21 and Valley View Elementary from June 10 to July 19. The program will run from June 10 to Aug. 9 for Cloud and Pacific Avenue preschools and Cerritos, Horace Mann, Fremont, John Muir, and Mark Keppel elementary schools. At the Lincoln and R.D. White elementary schools and College View School, the program will begin June 11 through July 12. For the Roosvelt, Rosemont, Toll and Wilson middle schools and the Crescenta Valley, Daily, Glendale and Hoover high schools, meals will be served from June 10 to July 16. Meals will also be served at Pacific Park and Maple Park from June 10 to Aug. 9 during lunch hours from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
There will be no meal service on the June 19 and July 4 holidays at any of the summer meal locations. Call the Nutrition Services Department at (818) 552-2677 for additional information.
