Glendale Achieves Age-Friendly Employer Certification

Glendale officials have announced the city’s designation as a certified age-friendly employer by the Age-Friendly Institute, demonstrating its commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.
The certification process, spearheaded by a Glendale team, involved a comprehensive evaluation of the city’s recruitment and employment policies, practices and programs across 12 categories of recognized best practices for age-friendly employers.
By appealing to individuals older than 50, Glendale anticipates a broader pool applying to city job opportunities. The display of the certified age-friendly employer seal on the city’s website is intended to send a clear message to current and potential employees that Glendale officials value workers older than 50.
“As a certified age-friendly employer, the city of Glendale is dedicated to enriching the lives of the seniors we serve and employ, fostering a workplace culture that celebrates and values diverse perspectives,” said Mayor Elen Asatryan. “We firmly believe that by cultivating an environment that embraces age diversity, we attract top talent and promote inclusivity and mutual respect.”
Glendale’s chief human resources officer, Paula Adams, added: “I am proud of Glendale’s commitment to becoming a certified age-friendly employer. This certification reflects our dedication to fostering an environment where all employees, regardless of age, feel valued, respected and supported in their professional growth and development.”
