Softball: Derian Fans Six as CVHS Wins First-Round Tilt

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity softball team picked up a 3-1 victory over visiting Newbury Park in its CIF Southern Section Division IV opener on May 2. Senior Perri Derian pitched a complete game with six strikeouts, allowing one earned run on three hits and no walks.
Senior Jaiden Sabelis went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and a walk, junior Hannah Wyroski recorded a double, an RBI and a walk, and junior Alexa Johnson finished with a double and a run. Junior Mila Reddy registered a hit, an RBI and a walk, junior Jasmine Hernandez was credited with an RBI, and junior Megumi Ono walked once.
The Falcons (14-12 overall) advanced to the second round and will matchup against Orange Vista High of Perris (12-7) on May 7.
