The Crescenta Valley High School varsity baseball team lost to visiting Moorpark 7-1 in its CIF Southern Section Division II opener on May 2.
Junior Sam Sellars pitched four innings with five strikeouts, while junior Colin Moore pitched three innings with three strikeouts. Senior Jacob Deno went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, while freshman Mike Herman went 2-for-3. Freshman Cole Richards produced a hit, a run, a stolen base and a walk, while junior Dashiell Schultz finished with two walks, a hit and a stolen base. Senior Brandon Kwon tallied a base hit, while senior Jake Rendo and junior Jimmy Spears each walked once.
The Falcons ended the regular season with a 5-1 Pacific League loss at Arcadia on April 26.
Kwon went 2-for-4, while Mike Herman went 2-for-3. Spears recorded a double, a run and a walk, junior Chris Torres produced a hit and an RBI, and sophomore Dante Cerecedes and Deno each registered a base hit. Sellars pitched 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts and no walks, while freshman Gunner Herman pitched one scoreless inning with a strikeout.
Crescenta Valley finished the campaign second in league with an 11-3 record (19-8 overall).
GLENDALE
Glendale ended the regular season with a 5-1 Pacific League victory at Hoover High on April 26 as senior Jason Martinez pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Senior Austin Aldrete went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a stolen base and a walk, while senior Aaron Aguayo registered a hit, two runs and a stolen base. Senior Mateo Mireles contributed a hit, an RBI and a run, senior Sheantell Cruz recorded a hit and an RBI, and senior Alex Idolor tallied a base hit. Senior Xander Knur walked once and scored a run, junior Joseph Tapia walked once and senior Jacob Hyde scored a run.
The Nitros finished the campaign seventh in league with a 4-10 record (9-18 overall).
HOOVER
The Tornados ended the regular season with a 5-1 Pacific League loss against visiting Glendale on April 26.
Senior Julian Corral, who had a triple and a run at the plate, pitched six innings with seven strikeouts, while freshman Jesse Carbonneau, who had a hit and an RBI, pitched one inning with one strikeout and no walks. Senior Bryan Olmedo recorded a double, while senior Daniel Baneham and sophomore Jordan Mahler each tallied a base hit.
Hoover finished the campaign eighth in league with an 0-14 record (3-21-1 overall).
