Pedestrian Killed in Metrolink Train Crash

A Lancaster-bound Metrolink train fatally struck a pedestrian on Tuesday in the Glendale-Burbank area.
A representative from the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office told the News-Press on Thursday it was not yet releasing the identity of the deceased pending the victim’s next of kin being notified.
AV Line Train 209 hit the person, who died at the scene, at about 10 a.m. near San Fernando Road and Brazil Street, between the Glendale and Burbank-Downtown stations, according to Metrolink.
About 125 passengers were aboard the train at the time, and no injuries were reported. Rail service was interrupted, and Uber vouchers of up to $50 were available to affected passengers.
A similar episode occurred in February 2022 in the 1100 block of North Victory Place. In that case, police investigators and the coroner determined the incident a suicide, saying the man had intentionally positioned himself across the train tracks as the train was approaching. The train, which was traveling southbound, was unable to stop and struck him, according to police.
