Softball: Crescenta Valley Remains Unbeaten in League

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity softball team lost to visiting La Cañada 3-1 in a nonleague game on March 27.
Senior Perri Derian pitched five innings with three strikeouts, while junior Carley Mulcahey pitched two innings with one strikeout and no walks. Junior Alexa Johnson went 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base, senior Haley Krohn went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and senior Jaiden Sabelis tallied a base hit. Junior Mila Reddy walked twice, while senior Anais Ochoa and junior Hannah Wyroski each walked once.
The Falcons defeated visiting Glendale 11-0 in a Pacific League game on March 26 as Derian and Carley Mulcahey combined for a five-inning perfect game.
Derian, who went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs at the plate, pitched three innings with eight strikeouts, while Carley Mulcahey pitched two innings with four strikeouts. Wyroski recorded a two-run home run and a walk, while junior Megumi Ono went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base. Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, junior Jasmine Hernandez went 2-for-2 with a run and a walk, and Reddy registered a hit, two RBIs, a run, a walk and a stolen base. Ochoa walked twice and scored a run, Sabelis walked once and scored a run, and sophomore Reese Fontanilla and freshman Chloe Mulcahey each scored a run.
Crescenta Valley (7-7 overall, 3-0 in league) will visit Etiwanda for a nonleague game on April 2 at 3:15 p.m. before hosting Temple City on April 4.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School senior Jazmin Combs went 2-for-4 with a pair of triples to help the Nitros beat Pasadena in a Pacific League game on March 27.

The Nitros snapped a four-game losing streak after routing visiting Pasadena 17-5 in a Pacific League game on March 27.
Sophomore Sky Smoot went 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs, two runs and two walks, while senior Jazmin Combs went 2-for-4 with a pair of triples, two runs and an RBI. Senior Faith Alvarez went 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs, two walks and a stolen base, junior Natalie Minkler went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs, and junior Jade Marquez went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. Sophomore Paola Marquez recorded a hit, two runs, two walks and a stolen base, while sophomore Rachel Francis produced a hit, two runs and a stolen base. Sophomore Sareen Hagopian tallied a hit, an RBI and a run, while sophomore Carla Bedolla and freshman Brooke Aldrete each scored twice.
Glendale was no-hit by host Crescenta Valley High in an 11-0 league loss on March 26. Minkler pitched three innings with two strikeouts, while Marquez pitched one inning.
The Nitros (6-10, 1-2) will visit Leuzinger High in Lawndale for a nonleague game on April 4 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Jurupa Hills High of Fontana on April 6.

HOOVER

Hoover High School junior Kim De Leon and the Tornados will host Los Angeles Leadership Academy for a nonleague game on April 2.

The Tornados were no-hit by visiting Burroughs High of Burbank in a 16-0 Pacific League loss on March 26.
Hoover (5-5, 0-3) will host Los Angeles Leadership Academy for a nonleague game on April 2 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Westridge School of Pasadena on April 4.
