Boys’ Lacrosse: Gore Scores Four to Lift CV to First League Win

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team snapped its five-game losing streak with a 13-8 Gold Coast League victory over visiting Heritage Christian High of Northridge on March 12.
Senior Matthew Kubela racked up 10 saves, junior Samuel Gore registered four goals, two ground balls and one assist, and junior Tegan Clark scored three goals. Junior Andrew Peterson finished with 12 face-off wins, three assists, three ground balls and one goal, senior Nelson Lunt recorded eight ground balls, two assists and one goal, and junior Cormac Abaravich tallied four ground balls and one goal. Senior Quincy Lunt contributed one goal, one assist and one ground ball, while junior Charlie Allen and sophomore Aidan Roe-Briesewitz each chipped in one goal. Junior Alec Kousherian produced one assist and one ground ball, while senior David Ajemyan was credited with one assist. Senior Elias Shammaa collected four ground balls, while seniors Michael Clark, Jason Yee, Xander Trinh and Daniel Briones each had one ground ball.
The Falcons lost to visiting Viewpoint High of Calabasas 8-6 in a league game on March 7.
Tegan Clark chipped in three goals, Trinh finished with two goals and one ground ball, and Quincy Lunt registered two assists, one goal and one ground ball. Nelson Lunt contributed five ground balls and one assist, while Kubela tallied 14 saves. Peterson won five face-offs, while Michael Clark collected five ground balls. Allen was credited with one assist and one ground ball, while senior Jackson Roehr, Yee, Shammaa, Briones and Gore each had one ground ball.
Crescenta Valley (2-6 overall, 1-2 in league) will visit Castaic for a nonleague game on March 25 at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Chaminade High in West Hills on March 28.

GLENDALE
The Nitros lost to visiting Royal High of Simi Valley 12-9 in their Coastal Canyon League opener on March 12. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale (2-4, 0-1) will visit Simi Valley for a league game on April 2 at 7 p.m. before hosting Grace High of Simi Valley on April 4.
