Glendale Water & Power to Host Community Meetings

Glendale Water and Power will be conducting a series of community meetings to receive feedback and input directly from Glendale residents in the development of their Solar and Energy Storage Plan.
The meetings will occur on the following days at the following locations:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Adult Recreation Center
  • Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sparr Heights Community Center
  • Monday, March 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Zoom (check the website below for the link)
  • Wednesday, May 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Adult Recreation Center
  • Thursday, May 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sparr Heights Community Center
In August 2022, the Glendale City Council passed a resolution expressing their intent to adopt policies and practices aimed at achieving the goal of having at least 10% of GWP customers adopt solar and energy storage systems by 2027, and develop additional demand management measures, with a minimum total peak dispatchable and peak-load-reducing capacity of 100 megawatts.
The goal of this solar and energy storage plan is to maximize the city’s use of renewable energy to serve the current and future energy needs of Glendale residents.
GWP recognizes that achieving this goal will not come without its challenges, which is why they are seeking input directly from residents to ensure that their Solar and Energy Storage Plan properly captures the interests and needs of the residents and business owners of Glendale.
The Solar and Energy Storage Plan will include an evaluation of the adoption potential and consider several policies and incentives to achieve the adoption and capacity goals. Glendale Water and Power is eager to sit down with customers and listen to their thoughts, suggestions and concerns as they move toward the creation and implementation of this plan.
