Crescenta Valley Boys’ Lacrosse Bounces Back Against Royal

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team defeated host Royal High in Simi Valley 6-4 in a nonleague game on Feb. 14.
Junior Samuel Gore recorded four goals and three ground balls, senior Alex Lineses chipped in two goals with six ground balls, and senior Matthew Kubela made 11 saves. Senior Nelson Lunt finished with six ground balls and one assist, while senior Quincy Lunt was credited with a pair of assists. Junior Andrew Peterson tallied two face-off wins and one assist, while sophomore Aidan Roe-Briesewitz registered one face-off win and one assist. Junior Ephram Wright contributed three shots on goal and one ground ball, while junior Alec Kousherian produced three ground balls and one shot on goal. Senior Xander Trinh had one shot on goal and one ground ball, while junior Charlie Allen took one shot on goal. Seniors Michael Clark, Jason Yee and Elias Shammaa each collected two ground balls, while senior Daniel Briones and junior Cormac Abaravich each had one ground ball.
The Falcons suffered a 19-1 season-opening loss at St. Francis High in La Cañada Flintridge on Feb. 13.
Lineses chipped in one goal with one ground ball, while Peterson recorded three face-off wins and one assist. Quincy Lunt tallied three shots on goal and two ground balls, Allen produced two shots on goal and one ground ball, and Kousherian had one shot on goal. Yee registered two ground balls, while senior Jackson Roehr, Clark, Abaravich and Wright each finished with one ground ball. Kubela collected 15 saves, while senior Trevor Haug made one save.
Crescenta Valley (1-1 overall) will visit Brentwood School in Los Angeles for its Gold Coast League opener on Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m. before visiting Orange Lutheran on Feb. 27.

GLENDALE
The Nitros suffered a 9-5 season-opening loss at La Cañada on Feb. 10. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale (0-1) will host Castaic for a nonleague game on Feb. 19 at 4:30 p.m. before visiting Cabrillo High in Long Beach on Feb. 26.
