Hoover Boys’ Basketball Suffers Heartbreak in Quarterfinal

The Hoover High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost to visiting Buckley High of Sherman Oaks 42-41 in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division V-AA playoffs on Feb. 13. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Tornados secured a 62-57 second-round victory over visiting San Bernardino in a CIF game on Feb. 9 as senior Zakhary Van Patten poured in 19 points with six assists, five rebounds and three steals.
Sophomore Justin Herrera recorded 16 points, six steals, four rebounds and three assists, while junior Jaden Duncan finished with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and one block. Senior Hagop Demirjian tallied nine rebounds, five points, four steals, three blocks and three assists, senior Michael Shamoun chipped in four points and two rebounds, and senior Ethan Davis recorded four rebounds, two points, one block and one steal.
Hoover finished the campaign sixth in league with a 4-10 record (15-13 overall).
