CVHS Falls to Pasadena

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost to visiting Pasadena 65-57 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.
Junior Vaughn Zargarian poured in 23 points with seven rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist, junior Michael Sahagian registered 13 points, three steals, two rebounds and one assist, and senior Derek Najarian tallied 13 points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Senior Logan Freemon chipped in seven points, four rebounds, two steals and one block, while senior Nick Altounian contributed eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Senior Lachlan Blunt finished with two blocks, one point and one rebound, while senior Grikor Moghoyan had two steals and two assists.
The Falcons defeated Glendale 72-64 in a league game on Jan. 4, as Zargarian racked up 28 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and one steal.
Najarian poured in 19 points with three rebounds, one steal and one assist, while Sahagian chipped in 12 points and two assists. Altounian tallied seven rebounds, four points, three assists and two steals, while Freemon finished with seven rebounds, two points and one steal. Moghoyan recorded four points and one steal, freshman Dylan Shaghoian registered three points and one steal, and Blunt collected four rebounds.
Crescenta Valley (15-5 overall, 5-2 in league) will visit Muir High in Pasadena on Jan. 16 at 5:15 p.m. before traveling to Hoover High on Jan. 19.


HOOVER

Hoover High School junior Jaden Duncan registered six points during a Pacific League matchup against Arcadia on Jan. 9.

The Tornados lost to visiting Arcadia 59-54 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.
Senior Zack Van Patten racked up 20 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block, while sophomore Justin Herrera poured in 18 points with one steal, one rebound and one assist. Junior Jaden Duncan registered six points, two rebounds and one assist, while senior Michael Shamoun tallied eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one point. Senior Hagop Demirjian produced two steals, two rebounds and one block, junior Arin Tahmasian collected two rebounds, and senior Ethan Davis had one rebound.
Hoover secured a 57-54 league victory at Burbank on Jan. 4, as Demirjian posted a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist.
Shamoun poured in 12 points with seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Van Patten recorded 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds and one steal. Duncan contributed 12 points, four rebounds and one assist, while Herrera chipped in nine points, two assists, one steal and one rebound. Davis finished with three rebounds and one assist, while Tahmasian had one rebound.
The Tornados (11-7, 2-5) will visit Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 16 before hosting Crescenta Valley High on Jan. 19.


GLENDALE

Glendale High School senior Haig Jivalagian scored 26 points during a Pacific League matchup against Burroughs High on Jan. 9.

The Nitros narrowly lost to Burroughs High of Burbank 67-66 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9 as senior Haig Jivalagian racked up 26 points.
Junior Joshua Ballard poured in 11 points, while junior Roman Ramirez scored nine points. Senior Christian Pierre tallied eight points, while senior Anthony Agakhanyan and sophomore Mason Manalo each contributed six points.
Glendale lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High 72-64 in a league game on Jan. 4 as Ballard racked up 25 points.
Senior Rein Rigor poured in 10 points, while senior Mika Petrosian and Manalo each scored six points. Pierre finished with five points, junior Daniel Soliman chipped in four points and Agakhanyan tallied three points. Junior Chris Martirosyan produced two points, while Ramirez had one point.
The Nitros (12-8, 2-4) will visit Burbank for a league game on Jan. 16 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Jan. 19.
