Falcons Blank Burroughs to Stay Unbeaten in League

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team tied Marlborough High of Los Angeles 2-2 in its Best in the West Tournament finale on Dec. 16.
Freshman Arianna Dominguez finished with one goal and one assist, while sophomore Kira Lee scored one goal.
The Falcons shut out Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth 4-0 in a Best in the West Tournament match on Dec. 16.
Junior Emily Martinez registered two goals and one assist, senior Kaylee Yoxsimer and junior Leah Farhadian each tallied one goal and one assist, and Lee was credited with one assist.
Crescenta Valley blanked visiting Burroughs High of Burbank 4-0 in a Pacific League match on Dec. 15.
Martinez recorded one goal and one assist, senior Adamari Polanco, junior Misganech Teahan and Lee each scored one goal, and juniors Hannah Yi and Aniela Migliaccio each contributed one assist.
Crescenta Valley (7-2-1 overall, 4-0 in league) will compete in the Hart Showcase starting with a matchup against Saugus on Dec. 28 at 9:45 a.m. before resuming league play against Glendale on Jan. 4.


HOOVER
The Tornados suffered a 5-1 loss to Segerstrom High of Santa Ana in their Newport Harbor Tournament finale on Dec. 16 as junior Katherine Coppersmith scored the lone goal.
Hoover previously finished its Pacific League game at Muir High in Pasadena in a scoreless draw on Dec. 15.
The Tornados (3-8-1, 0-3-1) will host Burbank for a league game on Jan. 4 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Arcadia on Jan. 9.


GLENDALE
The Nitros were shut out at Arcadia 12-0 in a Pacific League matchup on Dec. 15 as senior goalkeeper Amelia Knur recorded 12 saves.
Glendale (0-9, 0-4) will visit Crescenta Valley High for a league game on Jan. 4 at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Burroughs High in Burbank on Jan. 9.
