Lee Comes Away With Hat Trick in Crescenta Valley Rout

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team crushed host Hoover High 9-1 in a Pacific League match on Dec. 12, as sophomore Kira Lee scored a hat trick.
Freshman Arianna Dominguez registered two goals and one assist, while senior Cameron Ouye, junior Emily Martinez and junior Aniela Migliaccio each tallied one goal and one assist. Junior Misganech Teahan contributed one goal, junior Hannah Yi was credited with a pair of assists, and seniors Kaylee Yoxsimer and Adamari Polanco each had one assist.
The Falcons suffered a 7-1 loss against El Dorado High of Placentia to end the first weekend of play in the Best in the West Tournament on Dec. 9 as Lee scored one goal. Crescenta Valley lost to Dana Hills 1-0 in their Best in the West Tournament opener on Dec. 9.
The Falcons blanked host Muir High in Pasadena 2-0 in a league match on Dec. 8. Senior Mackenzie Elster and Lee each one goal, while Martinez had one assist.
Crescenta Valley (5-2 overall, 3-0 in league) will finish competing in the Best in the West Tournament on Dec. 16 before resuming league play at Burbank on Dec. 21 at 3:45 p.m.

HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High 9-1 in a Pacific League match on Dec. 12. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover suffered a 3-1 loss against Fullerton in a Newport Harbor Tournament game on Dec. 9, as junior Katherine Coppersmith scored one goal.
The Tornados shut out Magnolia High of Anaheim 1-0 in their Newport Harbor Tournament opener on Dec. 9 as senior captain Isabella Quinones scored the deciding goal.
Hoover lost at Pasadena 6-2 in a league match on Dec. 8, as senior Fiona Gilbert and junior Amanda Laguna each recorded one goal.
The Tornados (3-7, 0-3) will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league match on Dec. 21 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Burbank on Jan. 4.

GLENDALE
The Nitros lost to visiting Muir High in Pasadena 2-0 in a Pacific League match on Dec. 12.
Senior goalie Amelia Knur recorded seven saves, junior Grace Petrossians and freshman Elena Shakhbadaryan each had two shots on goal, and senior Nelin Gharpetian and freshman Liberty Mancio each finished with one save.
Glendale lost at Burbank 3-0 in a league match on Dec. 8. Knur tallied 10 saves, while Shakhbadaryan had one shot on goal.
The Nitros (0-8, 0-3) will host Pasadena for a league match on Dec. 21 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High on Jan. 4.
